Halfpenny House Para 55

Recently completed, this Para 55 house sits within an agricultural farmyard and an established hierarchy of existing structures.

The design concept for this passive house was to resemble an agricultural barn, respect the existing hierarchy. Integral to our designs were flood prevention measures, creating a sustainable drainage strategy and many biodiversity enhancements.

As part of the site falls within the 1 in 100 year flood risk area, the landscape design includes a number of natural ponds that form part of an integrated drainage system and improve the local ecology.

Planning Approval

The planning application for this unique project was granted by Ashford BC, under the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) Paragraph 55. This policy has now been superseded by the current National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) Paragraph 79, which sets out the Government's policy requirements for rural development in the open countryside.
