Wings

Completed in 2014 ‘Wings’ is a Paragraph 84 (PPS 7) replacement dwelling for a retired pilot. The house explores the physical & spatial qualities of a wing.

New Build

An inspirational, sustainable, energy efficient family home

The striking butterfly roof was inspired by the profile of an aircraft wing. The roof was designed to harness solar energy via roof mounted photovoltaics and to maximise views to the North and South of the site.

The Finer Details

The large overhang along the South elevation provides solar shading, minimising overheating in summer whilst maximising sunlight in winter months to passively heat the building.
