Following a limited competition we were appointed to design a substantial new country house set within a 50 acre site which benefitted from having already established planning consent for a large house.
Our proposals have sought to maintain an informal relationship of the house over its commanding views across the rolling rural landscape. Two principle buildings frame three mature Oak trees and a series of articulated spaces & terraces assimilate the house into its sloping hilltop setting. The design explores the use of various materials which have strong historic connections to the location, including chalk & flint.
