Richard Hawkes explains PPS 7 Paragraph 11, the Policy’s 2nd evolution prior to Paragraph 84

Hawkes Architecture, talks about the 2nd iteration of the “Country House Clause”. PPS 7 Paragraph 11 set out the special circumstances which could allow an isolated new dwelling in the open countryside. This version of the policy included some terms which have proven difficult for designers & planning officers to let go of despite further evolutions of the policy since the introduction of the NPPF. Richard talks through this evolution of the policy, highlighting some of the changes that occurred and the change in direction of the purpose for the policy.
