Paragraph 84 (Para 84)

Reservoir View

Once an unchanged agricultural landscape, this valley has been transformed by flooding in the late 20th century—creating a striking new character shaped by water and topography.

A Contemporary Home Framing Reservoir Views

Set into a gently sloping site overlooking the water, Reservoir View is a contemporary home that reimagines traditional forms through a bold, sprawling hipped roof. Clad in locally inspired red tiles, the roofscape anchors the design in its context while introducing a sculptural, abstract quality that reflects the home’s modern character. The building steps down naturally with the topography, allowing the architecture to sit lightly within the land while enhancing the surrounding landscape. Inside, expansive south-facing living spaces open out to generous gardens, with large windows and carefully placed openings framing long views of the reservoir and drawing in natural light. A central skylight further animates the interiors, bringing daylight deep into the plan and celebrating the ever-changing connection between roof, sky, and landscape.
