On the 21st November 2022 the Planning Inspectorate Allowed our Appeal to the refusal by South Cambs D.C for our innovative paragraph 84e scheme which celebrates the historic role the site played with the Mosquito aircraft in WWII.
This represents our 27th exceptional Paragraph 84 house consent.
This application centres around the historic role the area played during WWII as an airfield which launched “The Wooden Wonder”, the Mosquito. A lightweight, cheap and quick to build aircraft whose fuselage was uniquely built in two separate halves to make it easy to fit out. The aircraft was able to utilise the skills of carpenters, piano & furniture makers in the war effort.
Now largely lost in a working arable landscape, the facilities at Castle Camps need to be acknowledged and celebrated. This unique paragraph 84e proposal does just that.
We were delighted to have had the support of the parish council and local aviation enthusiasts.
The process with the LPA was difficult to the point of hopeless. An appeal was inevitable.
Thankfully good sense prevailed.
Every site is unique but few sites have the right ingredients to formulate a robust paragraph 84e application. In this case, without the unique historic significance of the area & site, the site would have been in an otherwise unremarkable location and with little to offer.
The decision itself makes for interesting reading!
