Meadow View  PPS 7

A newly completed self-build on a sloping site, the dwelling is heavily dug into the surrounding landscape, appearing bigger on the inside than the properties exterior elevations reveal. Meadow View posed a real challenge during the early design phase, there were several site constraints including the restricted height of the building and the need to work the new structure around a 100 year old oak tree.

In response, we designed two simple structures that were uniquely styled, we linked these structures with a long glass walkway to minimise the buildings mass. Needing to give this highly individual PPS 7 property a sense of place, we used over 15,000 locally made Kent peg tiles and chose to clad the heavily glazed south building in an oiled oak finish. Once completed and fully landscaped, this building will hide itself in amongst the sites mature trees, providing our clients with a truly wonderful space to live.
