Lake House  PARA 55

An elegant and relatively modest sized Paragraph 55 dwelling, Lake House is set within 40 acres of the High Weald AONB adjacent to former fishing lakes & a derelict railway line.

The design narrative draws upon simple forms that relate to the historic former railway & further guest accommodation is provided in the form of three "carriages" nestled within the treeline, each providing essential accommodation for extended family to use when they come to stay.

The material palette for the new dwelling draws upon the strong heritage of brick & clay, linking to the woodland character that borders the site. In both cases these materials are expressed in a unique & contemporary way. Providing a rare opportunity to timbrel vault the dwelling's first floor, itself discreetly concealing the extensive solar array that compliments the sites biomass energy strategy.
