We have obtained planning consent for an extension to a pre-fabricated 'eco' house built 8 years ago. The existing house already has triple glazing, but unfortunately sports a MVHR system which doesn't work - amongst other features that didn't work out as well as expected.
As well as improving these under-performing elements of the house, we are also constructing a two-storey extension to PassiveHaus standards. Two new MVHR units are being installed as well as a large PV and PV-T (photovoltaic thermal) system with two 500 litre heat stores.
The new extension helps to improve the existing architecture, while still drawing upon the existing building's charming character.
A new outbuilding is also being built to consolidate two existing buildings. This building has been designed to be in harmony with the main house, whilst maintaining the distinct feeling of being an outbuilding.
